We are deeply saddened by the events on 14th Nov 2025. Monnow Street Monmouth Has experienced the freakiest of floods in the past few years, as a result of the Monnow river bursting its banks and having 5 inches of rain over 5 hours.
Paws Pets was badly damaged from the inside and after a failed attempt of shop staff trying to get the animals to safety due to the volume of water in the main street which would have been too deep or fast for anyone to walk through. The Staff communicated with the police, fire service and rescue teams waiting up the majority of the night for news and to be on hand to assist if needed.
Thank you
A Big THANK YOU to the SARA and the search rescue team who listened to our cries for help took our shop key and moved as many pets as they could upstairs to our Boarding area safe from the water. Unfortunately not everyone can be saved some Guinea Pigs have sadly passed before they got there. Some of the pets who were removed were 1 Rabbit, 1 Guinea Pig, Mice, 3 Turtles.
The Shop
Paws Pets Monmouth has now reopened.
